In a decisive operation, Nigerian Army forces from Sector 5 of Operation PEACE SHIELD eliminated armed bandits, retrieved ransom payments, and successfully freed 10 abducted victims in Kaduna State.

The military operation was launched after receiving credible intelligence about the kidnap of several women from Ungwan Nungu, Sanga LGA, on November 29, 2025.

A statement posted on the Army’s verified social media platforms detailed the encounter: “At approximately 6:40 AM on December 5, troops engaged the criminals during a ransom exchange. Overpowered by superior firepower, the kidnappers fled into nearby woodlands, abandoning their captives.”

The rescued individuals included one adult male, three young boys, three elderly women, and three female minors. After a thorough debriefing, all were safely returned to their families.

Recovered items from the operation consisted of a customized AK-47 rifle, a 9mm bullet cartridge, and ₦1.6 million in ransom money. The Army reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding civilians and dismantling criminal networks across Nigeria.
