Prominent Kannywood actress Samha Inuwa has been detained by Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly defacing the national currency.
The arrest occurred after a controversial video surfaced online, showing Inuwa using naira notes to wipe her nose—an act that violates Nigeria’s currency laws.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the arrest in an official statement, explaining that the agency acted swiftly upon identifying the viral footage.
Operatives from the Kano Zonal Directorate located and detained the actress for questioning regarding the suspected mutilation of legal tender.
Oyewale revealed that Inuwa remains in EFCC custody as investigations progress, with charges expected to be filed once the probe concludes.
The case highlights the agency’s intensified enforcement against currency abuse, particularly involving public figures.
