Renowned Nollywood comedian and digital creator Okemesi is currently fighting for his life after suffering severe complications from prescribed medication during a recent hospital stay.
The distressing news was confirmed by fellow actor Jeff Owolewa, who took to Instagram to reveal Okemesi’s critical condition.
This alarming development comes just 48 hours after fans celebrated Okemesi moving into a new home, generously funded by public donations.
Okemesi, born Bamidele Tope Saint, had previously appealed for financial support after illness left him without shelter two weeks ago.
In a shocking turn of events, Owolewa disclosed that the comedian was rushed back to medical care after experiencing adverse reactions to treatment from his initial hospitalization.
Detailing the harrowing ordeal, Owolewa explained how multiple facilities turned them away before finally securing emergency care at the original hospital, where Okemesi now lies unconscious.
Owolewa passionately appealed for prayers and financial assistance, stating: “Friends, Okemesi has been hospitalized again. He remained unresponsive throughout the weekend after developing complications from his prescribed medication.
“I immediately transported him to various hospitals on Monday morning, but we faced rejection at every turn – even a government facility in Igodo refused treatment citing lack of space. We eventually returned to the private hospital where he initially received care.
“While his breathing has stabilized with oxygen support, he remains in a comatose state since Monday morning. Our collective prayers are for his full recovery.”
