In a recent social media post, Nigerian activist VeryDarkman (VDM) highlighted education as the critical missing piece in resolving Nigeria’s escalating security crisis, particularly in its northern territories.

Renowned Nigerian commentator Martins Vincent Otse, widely recognized as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has presented his definitive stance on combating Nigeria’s persistent security threats, especially terrorism.

Sharing his views on Instagram, VDM pointed to the severe educational deficit in Northern Nigeria as the root cause of the nation’s deteriorating security situation.

According to him, most insurgents operating in Nigeria originate from underdeveloped Northern regions, where illiteracy makes youth vulnerable to extremist recruitment.

He asserted: “The long-term answer to terrorism lies in compulsory education for Northerners. A leader willing to dedicate half their tenure to enforce schooling in the North would dismantle terrorism at its core.

“Knowledge is liberation. Without it, Nigeria will continue to grapple with chaos. While religious studies dominate the North, formal education is neglected, leaving generations susceptible to manipulation by the educated elite.

“If I sought to mobilize a terrorist force, Northern cities like Maiduguri or Zamfara would be prime targets. The streets overflow with uneducated youth—easy recruits for militant agendas.”
