Super Eagles

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have held steady in the December 2025 FIFA men’s rankings, securing the 38th position worldwide despite no recent competitive fixtures, as confirmed by the latest update.

With their points unchanged at 1,502, the team remains fifth in Africa, trailing powerhouses Morocco (11th globally), Senegal (19th), Egypt (35th), and Algeria (34th).

African football continues to see strong representation, with Tunisia (41st), Côte d’Ivoire (42nd), Mali (53rd), DR Congo (56th), and Cameroon (57th) rounding out the continent’s top 10.

On the global stage, Spain retains its dominance at the summit, followed closely by Argentina and France. England, Brazil, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and Croatia complete the elite top 10, all maintaining their positions.

The final rankings of 2025 came after 42 international matches, including the thrilling FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, where Morocco’s triumph nearly propelled them into the world’s top 10—just 0.54 points behind Croatia.

Several nations made waves this year, with Kosovo surging 19 spots to 80th after a stellar run of seven wins in 10 matches. Norway (29th) and Suriname (123rd) also enjoyed notable climbs.

Meanwhile, Jordan (64th), Vietnam (107th), and Singapore (148th) were among December’s biggest risers, each gaining two to three places.

While Nigeria’s consistency is commendable, the upcoming AFCON 2025 presents a crucial opportunity for the Super Eagles to ascend the rankings and reassert their dominance in African football.
