NFF President Ibrahim Gusau has officially confirmed Eric Chelle will continue as Nigeria’s head coach following their third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
While the federation had set their sights on AFCON glory, Chelle guided the team to a commendable podium finish after a spirited penalty shootout victory over Egypt secured the bronze medal.
Gusau praised Chelle’s leadership post-tournament, emphasizing the visible growth of the Super Eagles under his guidance and reaffirming the NFF’s support for the Malian tactician as Nigeria looks toward future success.
“The squad is evolving into a well-oiled machine, and with this technical team, greater achievements lie ahead,” Gusau remarked in an NFF statement, reflecting on Nigeria’s campaign.
“We’re immensely proud of the team’s resilience and will keep providing the necessary backing to elevate Nigerian football further.
“Coach Chelle has exceeded expectations in his first year—his tactical acumen and man-management are undeniable. We’re excited to continue this journey together.”
The Super Eagles clinched bronze in dramatic fashion, edging out Egypt 4-2 on penalties after a tense goalless draw at Casablanca’s Stade Mohamed V.
