Senator Ned Nwoko has publicly countered allegations that he married his estranged wife, Regina Daniels, when she was underage, presenting her INEC voter’s card as proof of her age at the time.

The controversy arose after activist Omoyele Sowore accused the lawmaker of marrying Daniels as a minor, prompting Nwoko to share documents refuting the claim.

Taking to X on Thursday, Nwoko stated: “Recent false allegations circulating online suggest I married Regina at 17. This is completely untrue.

“When we first met, Regina confirmed she was 21, and she provided her INEC voter’s card as verification. The document clearly lists her birthdate as October 10, 1998.

“I retained the card as proof, which I still have in my possession.

“Additionally, Regina’s mother addressed her age in a BBC interview following our marriage.”
