Nollywood star Lala Akindoju has opened up about her emotional journey of embracing motherhood while mourning the devastating loss of her father.
Through a heartfelt Instagram post, the award-winning producer revealed she gave birth to her second baby shortly after her father’s passing, calling it “a season of conflicting emotions”.
The creative powerhouse described navigating this period as one of the greatest tests of her resilience, combining career pressures with profound personal transitions.
Akindoju reflected how this intense year became a masterclass in emotional endurance – managing film projects, processing deep sorrow, and learning the rhythms of a growing family.
“Welcoming new life while saying goodbye to the man who gave me life created waves of emotions I never anticipated. Yet motherhood demands you rise above storms, because tiny hands cling to you completely,” she shared.
“Adéiyèolú became my north star through grief – this perfect person needing my love and care became salvation itself. Looking back at his first miraculous year fills me with endless gratitude.”
The actress gave special recognition to her support system who became lifelines during sleepless nights and overwhelming days. She chronicled the complex dance of breastfeeding, filming schedules, preschool parenting, and emotional healing.
“Juggling productions, grieving, nurturing a newborn while raising an energetic four-year-old required superhero strength – strength I didn’t always have alone. My village carried me when I couldn’t stand,” she acknowledged, paying tribute to friends and colleagues who provided everything from meal trains to midnight support calls.
“For every person who held Adéiyèolú so I could pump milk between takes, every colleague who adjusted shoot schedules, every friend who brought groceries or just sat with me in silence – this milestone belongs to you all.
“Today we celebrate our sunshine boy – his contagious giggles, his dramatic frowns, his endless appetite (especially for jollof rice!), and the sacred honor of being his parents. This little soul has multiplied our capacity for love.”
Her moving tribute included special appreciation for husband OritseGbubemi Fregene, her rock through this transformative chapter.
She praised his steadfast partnership through feeding schedules, emotional breakdowns, and work commitments, calling him “the quiet hero behind our family’s joy”.
“My miracle baby deserves his own award too – joining film sets in utero, becoming our frequent flyer at weeks old, adapting beautifully to our creative chaos,” she added with maternal pride.
The couple welcomed their firstborn in 2021 before completing their family with their newest addition earlier this year.
