Iconic Nigerian Singer 'Jigida Queen'

Legendary Nigerian vocalist Uche Ibeto, fondly known as the “Jigida Queen,” has made a desperate plea for assistance amid a distressing legal battle that has left her without shelter.

The celebrated artist revealed she was unlawfully ousted from her Lagos residence in Surulere on August 15, 2025, forcing her to drift between temporary accommodations ever since.

Ibeto, now in her twilight years at 70, claims her well-being has suffered due to fraudulent dealings, a questionable court order, and collusion between her older sister, real estate opportunists, and law enforcement.

In a heartfelt Lagos press release, the music icon shared her anguish: “I deserve to relish the fruits of my decades-long career as a respected elder, yet here I am—homeless and struggling.”

Uche Ibeto's Family Home

The residence in dispute—No. 36 Ibezim Obiajulu Street, Surulere—was inherited from her late mother, Esther Uche Ibeto, who passed in 2013 without a will. Ibeto had resided there for more than 50 years, alongside her mother before her passing.

Despite letters of administration being issued to her sisters Laura Okoh and Ifeoma Stella Ilodibe, the vocalist insists the Surulere property was excluded from the assets they were authorized to oversee. She accuses Cecil Ezem Osakwe of orchestrating a shady acquisition through legal loopholes.

“At dawn on August 15, over 50 armed police officers and court sheriffs stormed my home, citing a July 10th judgment by Justice Adewunmi-Oshin—a case I wasn’t even party to,” she disclosed.

Uche Ibeto Pleading for Justice

Asserting that the lawsuit (LD/9481GCM/2025) deliberately sidelined her rights, Ibeto implored the Lagos State Government, the Inspector-General of Police, and judicial bodies to investigate the glaring miscarriage of justice.

“All I ask is to reclaim my home and dignity,” the aging star pleaded, her voice trembling with emotion.
