Ozedikus Nwanne

Renowned music producer Igbinoba Osaze, widely recognized as Ozedikus Nwanne, has shared insights into his evolution within the music scene, detailing his shift from gospel compositions to crafting mainstream hits.

Speaking exclusively with Punch, Ozedikus revealed that although gospel music laid the groundwork for his career, its financial limitations pushed him toward broader horizons.

While performing as a pianist for churches and bands provided modest earnings, he discovered that secular production unlocked greater creative freedom and financial stability.

He recounted years of unpaid labor, hustling for recognition while juggling passion and survival.

For nearly a year, he dedicated himself to a church band without compensation, relying solely on production gigs to make ends meet.

By 2017, he fully immersed himself in production, overcoming artistic clashes and managing both the business and creative sides before eventually delegating logistics to a manager.

Reflecting on his journey, he stated: “Initially, gospel music was my world—it shaped my sound and connected me with artists in that space. But back then, gospel acts weren’t frequently recording in studios, and launching projects demanded funds I didn’t have. So, I pivoted to where the opportunities were.

“My survival depended on piano gigs—church services, live bands. There was a stretch where I played for eight months without payment, yet I stayed afloat. That’s when it hit me: production was my lifeline. By 2017, I dove in completely. The early grind was brutal, but persistence paid off.”
