Afrobeat artist Victor Okafor, widely recognized as Mr. Real, has opened up about his biggest career regret—collaborating with Idowest on his chart-topping track “Legbegbe.”

According to the singer, including Idowest in the song hindered its reach and ultimately slowed his rise in the music industry.

During an exclusive interview with Hip TV Trending, Mr. Real shared that going solo on the record could have positioned him among Africa’s elite musicians like Wizkid and Burna Boy.

He also disclosed that plans for a Wizkid-assisted remix fell apart due to undisclosed interference from industry heavyweight D’banj.

Released in 2017, “Legbegbe” quickly became a nationwide sensation, solidifying Mr. Real’s place in the Nigerian music scene.

Despite its success, the artist lamented missed opportunities, explaining that strategic missteps during the song’s release cost him greater recognition.

He admitted: “Bringing Idowest into ‘Legbegbe’ was a mistake. I should have carried the track alone—today, I’d be rubbing shoulders with Wizkid and Burna Boy.” On the scrapped Wizkid remix, he added, “D’banj’s involvement killed the deal.”
