Motunrayo Kuti, daughter of the iconic Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has finally broken her silence on the online feud between her brother, Seun, and music superstar Wizkid.
The dispute erupted when both artists clashed over the use of the nickname “Big Bird,” which they both reference in different contexts.
Seun Kuti identifies as Big Bird Kuti on Instagram, while Wizkid has embraced the moniker for years—leading to a fiery exchange.
In a contentious reply, Wizkid asserted that he surpassed the legacy of Seun’s legendary father, Fela. The remark ignited widespread backlash from fans defending the Afrobeat pioneer.
Motunrayo responded with a passionate video condemning Wizkid’s statement, fiercely protecting her father’s heritage and slamming the singer for his words.
Her rebuttal extended to criticizing Wizkid’s own family, claiming Fela’s influence far exceeded that of the singer’s parents.
She stated: “Wizkid claims he’s bigger than Fela? You’re also bigger than your own father—that irresponsible man. The one who abandoned you. And your mother, who died alone.
“Muniru Olátúnjí Balogun. That’s his name. If you’re bigger than Fela, then you’re certainly bigger than him too.
“Fela’s greatness outweighs both Muniru and your mother, who perished like a forgotten insect. Fela’s legacy stands far above theirs.”
