Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo, the visionary behind David’s Christian Centre, has delivered a bold message directed at women.

He cautioned against the common expectation that men should shoulder financial responsibilities in relationships.

The minister emphasized that this mindset stems from societal traditions rather than scriptural teachings.

He highlighted biblical wisdom, noting that Scripture encourages self-sufficiency through diligent work rather than dependence on others.

His words were pointed: “This mindset never benefits you. It’s a cultural construct, not divine instruction.

“The notion that men must financially support women isn’t biblical. Scripture clearly states that those unwilling to work shouldn’t expect to eat. Ask yourself – how did you survive before marriage? Before relationships? That’s the crucial question.

“These discussions often reflect limited thinking. Consider those raised by prosperous parents – they receive top-tier education, secure excellent careers, and aren’t left scrambling for handouts from romantic partners.

When you allow someone to buy you cheap treats, don’t be surprised when they treat you just as casually. Your self-worth determines how others value you.

If you establish your value at the price of popcorn, expect to be handled with equal disregard. This behavior brings shame to your entire family.”
