Legendary Nigerian artist Baba Fryo has sparked controversy by asserting that infidelity isn’t a trait of African men.

The music icon explained that cultural norms allow men to freely pursue multiple partners without stigma.

He argued that the idea of cheating is foreign to African traditions, calling it a Western import that doesn’t resonate locally.

The singer emphasized Africa’s longstanding polygamous roots, where men traditionally have the right to wed several wives.

Famous for his hit ‘Dem Go Dey Pose’, Baba Fryo contrasted this with women’s marital obligations, stating bride price payments essentially grant husbands authority over their spouses.

These bold statements surfaced during his appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, alongside hosts Daddy Freeze, Husband Material, Cole, and Ezinne.

“Cheating isn’t in African men’s vocabulary – our traditions openly embrace multiple partners. That’s a white man’s problem,” he declared.

“Our customs not only allow polygamy but demand it. Women face consequences for stepping out, but we don’t. Why? Our marriage isn’t sealed with flowers – it’s formalized through substantial payments and rituals. After fulfilling all these costly traditions, shouldn’t I naturally become her master?”
