May Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood star Yul Edochie, has escalated her fight against online abuse by filing a lawsuit targeting individuals she claims have waged a relentless smear campaign against her across social media platforms.
The businesswoman and influencer approached the Lagos State High Court seeking judicial intervention to dismantle multiple accounts allegedly dedicated to spreading malicious content about her personal and professional life.
Filed under case number LD/10737GCM/2026, the legal action names Yinka Omolola Theisen, Emeka Ugwuonye, and several unidentified social media operators as defendants, demanding court-ordered removal of defamatory posts and permanent restrictions against future harassment.
Through her legal team at Greylaw Partners, May seeks comprehensive relief including:
- A perpetual injunction barring defendants from further online attacks
- Immediate deletion of disputed content and offending accounts
- Platform disclosure of account holder identities for investigation
A detailed 126-paragraph affidavit outlines years of alleged coordinated attacks involving:
- Fabricated allegations and manipulated media
- AI-generated compromising images
- Derogatory caricatures and violent threats
The court documents reveal that cease-and-desist notices issued in 2025 failed to stop the harassment, with new accounts allegedly created to circumvent previous warnings. May specifically accuses one defendant – identified as her former attorney – of violating attorney-client privilege by leaking confidential information.
The lawsuit details significant consequences including:
- Damage to business partnerships and endorsement deals
- Exposure of private contact information leading to family harassment
- Severe emotional distress and safety concerns
Justice Abdul-Raheem Tejumade Muyideen has authorized alternative service methods including electronic delivery to defendants’ known digital addresses, with the case adjourned for service confirmation.
This legal action follows September 2025 pre-litigation notices where May sought ₦1.5 billion in total damages from Ugwuonye (₦1 billion) and Theisen (₦500 million) for alleged reputational and financial harm.
