Friday marked the launch of an ambitious culinary challenge by Guinness-certified chef and digital creator Hilda Baci, aiming to craft Nigeria’s most colossal Jollof rice batch at Lagos’ prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites.

The gathering has attracted unprecedented numbers, with diverse crowds including digital natives, young professionals, gastronomy fans, and famous personalities converging at the site.

Snaking lines extended far past the hotel entrance and overflowed beyond assigned zones, as eager participants vied for limited entry spots.

Numerous attendees found themselves delayed at checkpoints validating earlier digital registrations, while security personnel worked to manage the surging throng attempting to breach the already capacity-filled arena.

Baci disclosed that the specially engineered cooking vessel boasts a staggering 22,619-liter capacity, with plans to utilize 80% of its volume.

She initially calculated needing approximately 5,278 kg of premium basmati rice (about 264 sacks), but later dramatically upped her ambition, now targeting an extraordinary 25,000 sacks.

As flames ignited under the monumental pot, spectators erupted in thunderous support, fueling the electrifying energy surrounding this historic culinary endeavor.
