Nigerian street-pop sensation Portable narrowly escaped tragedy after his vehicle suffered a brake malfunction while en route to his newborn son’s naming ceremony.

The incident unfolded late Thursday in Ogun State as the controversial artist prepared for the celebratory event. Portable avoided a potentially fatal collision by deliberately steering his car into a roadside ditch.

In an emotional Instagram live session, the “Zazoo Zeh” hitmaker expressed gratitude: “My people, let’s give glory to God. This happened as I was heading out tonight. The brakes suddenly failed, but by God’s grace, I’m unharmed.”

The singer continued, “Instead of collecting my body, my crew came to rescue me from the wreckage. For my son’s naming ceremony, I’d already bought two cows. Thank God there was no oncoming truck when this happened.”

The DAILY POST reports Portable and wife Bewaji marked their child’s naming ceremony by distributing complimentary Ankara Aso Ebi outfits to attendees.

Bewaji delivered their bundle of joy on Friday, May 1, 2026, while Portable was engaged in a highly publicized boxing match with Carter Efe.
