A Nigerian man is speaking out after discovering the woman he had been wooing online was married—but only after he footed a massive restaurant bill on their first date.
In a viral social media clip, the frustrated gentleman recounted how their digital connection turned sour when his date allegedly concealed her marital status until after he had spent nearly ₦60,000 on their outing.
According to his account, the pair had been chatting extensively before meeting, complete with prior financial exchanges when she requested support. But their face-to-face encounter took an unexpected turn when she selected an upscale dining spot and insisted on keeping their meeting public.
“She refused coming straight to my place like normal people do,” he explained. “Instead, she picked this expensive restaurant, walked in before I arrived, and kept ordering dishes like it was her last meal.”
Eyewitnesses reported she consumed multiple courses while he watched, ultimately presenting him with a shocking tab. Though displeased, he claimed he remained courteous, thinking she might be struggling financially.
The real bombshell dropped during their ride home when she casually mentioned her husband. This left him furious—not just about the hidden marriage, but the money he’d been sending during their online courtship.
Reactions flooded social media as the story spread, with debates erupting about dating etiquette, financial transparency, and whether online daters should disclose relationship statuses upfront.
