Algerian football icon Riyad Mahrez has officially ended his distinguished international career following a surprising exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

This decision arrives hours after Algeria’s disappointing elimination from World Cup contention, suffering a 2-0 defeat against Switzerland.
Throughout his international tenure, Mahrez secured his legacy as Algeria’s fourth all-time top scorer while registering 45 assists and representing his nation 119 times.
