Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman has downplayed his on-field clash with Victor Osimhen during the Super Eagles’ dominant 4–0 win over Mozambique in the AFCON Round of 16, emphasizing their strong bond.
The Atalanta forward played a pivotal role in the victory, assisting both of Osimhen’s first-half goals before tensions flared when he opted to shoot instead of passing to his teammate.
Osimhen reacted visibly, eventually signaling to coach Eric Chelle for a substitution shortly after the incident.
“The result matters more—4-0 speaks for itself,” Lookman stated post-match. “Victor is like a brother to me, an incredible player. Whatever happened on the pitch stays there.”
“Football brings emotions, but he’s family. We move forward together.”
