Renowned Nollywood actor Sunday Afolabi has opened up about the immense struggles he faced after relocating to Badagry, revealing how the move crippled his acting career and plunged him into financial hardship.
In a candid interview, Afolabi shared how he went from being a familiar face on screen to taking on odd jobs just to make ends meet.
His move was initially driven by the dream of owning a home, but it soon led to a sharp decline in professional opportunities.
With acting roles vanishing and his photography business drying up, he struggled to maintain his Nissan Quest, eventually selling it after nearly two years of disuse.
The proceeds from the sale were meager, forcing him to purchase a secondhand motorcycle—a decision that proved disastrous as he lacked riding experience, leading to multiple accidents.
Emotions overwhelmed Afolabi as he recounted the toll his struggles took on his family, particularly his wife and children.
He tearfully recalled an encounter with a fan who recognized him from TV but was stunned to see him in such dire straits.
The fan urged him to return to the city and reconnect with industry peers.
Afolabi admitted his deep reluctance to ask for help, insisting he would rather work any honest job than beg.
He even offered to take up transportation services if given a suitable vehicle.
Moved by his story, media personality Biola Adebayo called on the public to assist Afolabi, pledging to use her platform to help him secure a vehicle, better housing, and stable income opportunities.
