Legendary American musician Lionel Richie has been hospitalized once more following the discovery of an arrhythmia—an abnormal heart rhythm—during a medical evaluation.
His latest health setback forced the postponement of three highly anticipated performances alongside Earth, Wind & Fire, originally scheduled for late September and early October in San Francisco, Chicago, and Columbus.
Medical professionals performed a corrective procedure, which proved successful, allowing the iconic performer to currently focus on recovery before returning to the stage.
This marks Richie’s third hospitalization in recent months. Just weeks earlier, in late August, the music legend was rushed to a St. Louis hospital following a concert, where he spent three days under observation for cardiac concerns after displaying visible distress onstage.
Earlier this summer, during a Minnesota performance, the 77-year-old entertainer candidly addressed fans after experiencing dizziness, humorously advising, “When you’re feeling dizzy, sit your ass down.” That incident led to two canceled shows before his triumphant return in Pittsburgh.
Richie’s dedicated fanbase continues to send well-wishes as the Grammy-winning artist prioritizes his health between tour commitments.
