Barcelona’s emerging talent Lamine Yamal has candidly discussed the persistent racial prejudice he has endured, stating he has encountered it countless times since breaking into professional football.

Speaking with ex-Argentina midfielder Jorge Valdano on a Spanish TV program, the 19-year-old described how racism often manifests in covert ways—through dismissive remarks or microaggressions that many don’t even recognize as discriminatory.

The young forward, subjected to overt abuse during marquee fixtures like El Clásico and online vitriol, shared his composed approach to handling such ignorance.

Yamal acknowledged that being called Black doesn’t offend him since it reflects his identity, but he can discern when malice fuels the words.

Despite enduring hostility, the Spanish international remains unfazed, channeling his focus entirely on his performance rather than letting bigotry derail his game.
