Media personality Robert Ekpo has been issued a cease-and-desist notice by legal representatives of his ex-wife, radio host Mayowa Lambe, demanding ₦100 million in damages and a public retraction of statements made about her during a podcast appearance.
Yolanda George-David, founder of Aunt Landa’s Bethel Foundation, shared the legal document on her verified X account. Dated April 22 and signed by K. Umoh Esq., the notice was issued through the foundation’s legal team, which specializes in advocacy for abuse survivors.
Addressed to Ekpo, the letter calls for an immediate halt to further dissemination of what it describes as defamatory claims. It mandates removal of existing content, public apologies across the same platforms used for the original statements, and substantial financial compensation to Lambe.
The notice warns of impending litigation—including claims for aggravated damages, injunctions, and potential criminal referrals—should Ekpo fail to comply within 72 hours. Similar warnings were extended to third-party platforms that amplified the contested statements.
Key directives include:
“Cease all defamatory publications immediately.
“Delete existing damaging content from all digital platforms.
“Issue a full public retraction of false allegations.
“Deliver a formal apology via the original distribution channels.
“Provide ₦100,000,000.00 in compensatory damages.”
This legal action follows Ekpo’s emotional revelations on The Honest Bunch podcast, where he detailed the breakdown of their 2015 marriage. He accused Lambe of deception regarding fertility treatments, alleged infidelity, and misuse of marital funds during her extended stays abroad.
Ekpo claimed to have discovered Lambe’s remarriage abroad through social media, despite no official divorce announcement. He further alleged she secretly used contraceptives while he underwent fertility testing, believing himself infertile.
“At 48, childless after years of tests, I later learned she’d been preventing conception,” Ekpo stated. He also recounted financing what he believed was fertility-related travel, only to later allege it funded cosmetic procedures.
The broadcast host described estranged interactions, including funding Lambe’s 2025 return flight to Nigeria where she allegedly rejected physical contact. He further suggested evidence of her cohabitation with another man prior to her remarriage.
Lambe’s legal team categorically rejected these claims. Their notice asserts the marriage was formally dissolved with familial consent before May 2025, leaving no ongoing marital ties. It condemns Ekpo’s narrative as a “calculated smear campaign” leveraging falsehoods about fidelity, finances, and relationship status.
The rebuttal references documented financial contributions by Lambe, her efforts to facilitate Ekpo’s relocation abroad, and medical records disproving contraceptive allegations. Third-party communications and social media evidence allegedly contradicting Ekpo’s account were also cited.
Despite repeated interventions from family and counselors, the notice accuses Ekpo of persistent defamation causing “severe reputational harm and emotional distress” to Lambe, while inciting online harassment against her.
Public discourse remains polarized, with Lambe maintaining her silence beyond indirect social media implications of personal contentment. As of publication, Ekpo had not formally responded to the legal notice.
