The Lagos State Government has cautioned Nollywood star Sarah Martins against preparing and distributing meals on public roads, citing violations of environmental and public safety laws.
Tokunbo Wahab, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, issued the advisory via his official X account on Saturday, stressing the need for adherence to urban regulations.
“We commend your charitable efforts, but cooking on Lagos streets disrupts public order and sanitation,” Wahab stated.
“Such activities obstruct pedestrian walkways, create traffic hazards, and contravene our environmental policies,” he emphasized.
The commissioner noted that Martins had received a prior warning in 2023, with authorities showing leniency due to the humanitarian intent behind her actions.
“Despite last year’s exemption, repeat violations will lead to legal consequences,” Wahab warned.
He urged the actress to collaborate with registered charities or designated spaces to continue her philanthropy lawfully.
“Lagos welcomes benevolent initiatives when conducted through authorized avenues that don’t compromise public welfare,” the commissioner clarified.
The statement concluded with a reminder about civic responsibility: “Every resident must uphold regulations that maintain Lagos as a model megacity.”
