Katsina State has officially designated Monday, July 14, as a public holiday to honor the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The decision was announced following Buhari’s passing on Sunday evening, July 13, in a United Kingdom medical facility, granting citizens the opportunity to mourn the national icon.

Abdullahi Garba Faskari, Secretary to the Katsina State Government, confirmed the declaration of the holiday.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, Katsina residents, and Nigerians nationwide, praising the former leader as “an exceptional patriot, a visionary leader, and a selfless servant of the people who devoted his life to Nigeria’s progress.”

The governor also led prayers, beseeching Allah (SWT) to grant Buhari divine mercy, pardon his imperfections, and bless him with eternal paradise.

The former president’s remains are scheduled to arrive in Nigeria later today for burial in his ancestral home of Daura, Katsina State.
