Emmanuel Adebayor

Former Togolese star Emmanuel Adebayor has once again expressed his deep admiration for Nigerian football legend Nwankwo Kanu, calling him his idol and the “god of football.”

During his time at Arsenal from 2006 to 2009, Adebayor wore the number 25 jersey and occupied the same locker once used by Kanu—a moment he considers pivotal in his professional journey.

The ex-Togo forward, who also played for Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Tottenham Hotspur, netted 32 goals in 87 caps for his national team before retiring.

In an interview with Brila FM, Adebayor firmly rejected any parallels drawn between him and the Nigerian great.

“Please, Kanu [Nwankwo] is my idol and my football deity. Let’s not make any comparisons. I appreciate your understanding,”
he stated.
