Renowned Nigerian dance icon Kafayat Oluwatoyin Shafau, popularly known as Kaffy, has shared a shocking childhood memory.

During a recent episode of *The Honest Bunch* podcast, she disclosed how her mother once accused her of inappropriate involvement with a boyfriend at just 13 years old.

Kaffy explained that after her parents’ divorce, her mother dated multiple men, and she and her siblings grew fond of these figures, referring to them as “daddies.”

However, her mother’s insecurity grew as she misinterpreted their closeness, leading to baseless suspicions.

She recounted a harrowing incident where her mother violently punished her in front of their guest after falsely accusing her of misconduct—merely for helping the man clean a shaving cut.

The trauma from this ordeal left lasting scars, instilling deep-seated trust issues.

“At 13, my own mother began distrusting me around her partners. Post-divorce, she dated several men, and we bonded with them, filling the void of an absent father.

“But she viewed our affection as a threat. One day, I was simply assisting her boyfriend with a minor injury when she walked in. Without hesitation, she humiliated me—stripping and beating me publicly.

“How could a mother believe such things about her child? That betrayal reshaped me. Insecurity passes silently but destroys loudly,” she confessed.

Despite the emotional turmoil, Kaffy emphasized how these struggles fueled her resilience, helping her break free from familial toxicity.
