Mohbad

A Lagos High Court in Ikorodu has granted approval for DNA testing to resolve the ongoing paternity dispute over Liam, the son of the late Afrobeat artist Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. The tests will be conducted at three international laboratories—two in the UK and one in the US.

The deceased’s father, Joseph Aloba, has repeatedly raised concerns regarding Liam’s parentage, insisting on conclusive genetic verification before Mohbad’s burial. The singer tragically passed away on September 27, 2023.

During the latest hearing involving Aloba and Wunmi, Mohbad’s widow, the family’s legal representative updated the press, stating, “The court has selected three accredited DNA centers—two in the UK and another in the US. Each party nominated a lab, and the court appointed an independent third one.”

“The case has been adjourned until April 7 to assess sample collection progress. Before then, arrangements will be made with welfare officers to oversee and document the sampling process. All involved parties will be present during the procedure.”

The lawyer further emphasized that both legal teams would appoint observers to ensure transparency as the samples undergo analysis at the designated facilities.
