Veteran Nollywood star and multi-talented artist Jude Chukwuka marked his 61st birthday with a vibrant listening session for his freshly dropped album, Things I Love, hosted at Lagos’ upscale The Box Lounge.
The exclusive gathering doubled as the album’s launch, drawing close friends, entertainment industry peers, childhood classmates, and family members for an evening of music and nostalgia.
Notable attendees included seasoned actors Saidi Balogun and Olarotimi Fakunle, while Chukwuka delivered a soulful live performance of Cheat Code, a romantic collaboration with his wife, Mimi, who also appears on the record.
The seven-track album features eclectic titles like Nancy Pelosi, Brazilian Assassin, and the football anthem Arsenal (Mase beru), alongside Redemption Day, Invisible Striker, Kodak, and the heartfelt duet with his spouse.
Addressing the audience, Chukwuka emphasized the significance of showcasing his musical journey alongside his acting legacy: “This is my chance to reveal another facet of my creativity. Music has always been part of me—it’s just taken this long to share it with the world.”
He shared the backstory of Arsenal (Mase beru), explaining how his lifelong passion for the Gunners fueled the track. “As a diehard Arsenal supporter, I composed this anthem in December, predicting our Premier League triumph after 22 years. It’s a victory song at heart.”
Mimi, his wife, beamed with pride as she praised her husband: “Every day with him feels like a blessing. He’s not just an incredible artist but an even more remarkable life partner. No words can truly capture how fortunate I am.”
