Afrobeats sensation Joeboy has weighed in on the heated debate surrounding Tyla’s Grammy triumph over Nigerian heavyweights in the Best African Music Performance category.

The music world buzzed with polarizing opinions after Tyla’s chart-topping single ‘Push 2 Start’ clinched the award at the 2026 Grammys, edging out Nigerian superstars Davido, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Ayra Starr, and Omah Lay.

During his interview with Jay On-Air, Joeboy countered the backlash, asserting that Tyla’s victory was well-deserved despite his personal preference for Davido.

“While my heart was with Davido for that Grammy, there’s no denying Tyla’s artistry. She poured everything into her craft, and the results speak for themselves,” Joeboy remarked.

“The outrage is understandable, but talent and hard work should be celebrated. Tyla earned that award fair and square,” he added.

The ‘Baby’ crooner also expressed admiration for Tyla’s dedication, revealing aspirations for a future collaboration.
