Nollywood star Jide Awobona has called for an end to the unfair comparisons surrounding pregnancy journeys, emphasizing that Temi Otedola’s experience should not be used to undermine other expectant mothers.
The appeal follows Temi Otedola and Mr Eazi’s joyful announcement of their first pregnancy, which featured a stunning maternity shoot where Temi expressed feeling an early connection with her unborn baby.
Awobona, disturbed by online discussions contrasting Temi’s seemingly effortless pregnancy with others’, took to Instagram to address the issue. He highlighted how every pregnancy is unique, with challenges that often go unseen.
“Pregnancy isn’t a one-size-fits-all experience,” he wrote. “The same woman can have completely different pregnancies—what’s easy for one may be grueling for another.”
He praised the quiet resilience of women who power through demanding routines while pregnant, noting that many endure pain privately. This theme, he explained, is central to his project ÌKÚNLÈ, which sheds light on the unseen struggles women face from conception to delivery.
Awobona urged society to celebrate motherhood without judgment, reminding followers that strength isn’t always visible. “Respect women’s journeys,” he stressed, “because no two stories are the same.”
Closing with warm wishes for Temi, he reiterated his stance: “Let’s uplift mothers instead of using one woman’s joy to shame another’s struggles.”
