A California court has thrown out a long-standing paternity claim against Jay-Z, dismissing allegations made by Rymir Satterthwaite, who insists he is the rap icon’s biological son.
According to Page Six, the judge ruled in favor of Jay-Z (Shawn Carter), shutting down the federal lawsuit filed earlier this year by Satterthwaite’s legal guardian, Lillie Coley.
The decision bars the 30-year-old from refiling the case or demanding DNA testing from the billionaire musician.
Satterthwaite has long maintained that Carter fathered him in the 1990s with his late mother, Wanda Satterthwaite—a claim the “Hard Knock Life” artist has consistently denied.
In July, Rymir hinted at dropping the case in an Instagram post, stating, “I did withdraw my case… There’s a lot happening behind closed doors.” However, he vowed to continue his fight, saying, “We have to play chess, not checkers.”
Carter’s legal team dismissed the allegations as baseless harassment, citing previous court rejections. “These claims have been repeatedly debunked,” they stated, calling the lawsuit part of a decades-long pattern of legal abuse.
While Satterthwaite denied seeking child support, he pursued damages for reputational harm and emotional distress, accusing Jay-Z of manipulating courts to suppress his paternity claims.
Last year, Rymir pushed for a court-ordered DNA test, telling the Daily Mail, “This won’t end until justice is served. I’ll keep fighting—the law is on my side.”
Jay-Z’s attorney swiftly countered, asserting, “Courts have already examined these allegations and found them meritless. Any new filings will meet the same fate.”
Satterthwaite, an aspiring rapper, claims his mother revealed Carter’s paternity when he was eight. Before her 2016 passing, Wanda filed a failed child support lawsuit in New Jersey, alleging an intermittent relationship with the Roc Nation founder.
The case was ultimately dismissed due to insufficient evidence.
