Nollywood actor Daniel Etim-Effiong’s wife, Toyosi Effiong, has opened up about her unconventional take on infidelity in marriages.
Speaking candidly on the ‘Moments with Toke’ podcast, Toyosi admitted that while infidelity is not ideal, it wouldn’t necessarily end her marriage.
She emphasized that her perspective stems from acknowledging real-world challenges in relationships rather than justifying unfaithfulness.
According to Toyosi, both men and women are prone to temptation, making mutual effort crucial in sustaining a healthy marital bond.
“I don’t see cheating as an automatic marriage-ender. I’m not saying it’s acceptable—just that it happens. Today, men recognize that women can stray too, though they often exercise more restraint,” she remarked.
“A lasting marriage requires work from both partners.”
Addressing unique struggles in entertainment industry marriages, Toyosi disclosed she once initiated ‘Wives of Entertainers’, a spiritual support group.
The collective focused on praying against destructive influences—like seduction and substance abuse—that could target their spouses.
“I started the group to shield our husbands from toxic forces. People get ensnared—especially in this industry—so we prayed fervently,” she said.
“The pressures are different here—drugs, distractions. A wife’s prayers carry different weight than a girlfriend’s. I pray differently because we’ve built a life together.”
“Many lose themselves in showbiz. Suddenly, priorities shift, families suffer.”
“Infidelity doesn’t have to mean divorce […] We formed the Wives of Entertainers group to spiritually protect our husbands from temptation.”
