FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasized that the proposed creation of a private entity to maximize commercial opportunities from the World Cup presents a choice, not a mandate. The plan, revealed earlier this week, has sparked widespread debate across the football community.
Infantino clarified that the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) initiative is part of a consultative dialogue, framing it as a voluntary option rather than an enforcement. He urged stakeholders to view this as a chance to revolutionize the sport’s global growth.
The proposal, which involves selling stakes in FIFA’s premier tournaments, aims to harness untapped revenue streams to strengthen grassroots football. Infantino underscored that this potential expansion would require collaboration from all 211 member associations and must pass a democratic vote.
He highlighted that the FFE would restructure the commercialization of FIFA’s assets—including sponsorships, media rights, and licensing—while preserving the sport’s integrity. According to him, the move promises significant long-term benefits, such as enhanced resources for national federations.
