Top Nigerian music producers Sarz, Ozedikus, and DJ Kaywise have opened up about their troubling encounters with industry exploitation, revealing how established artists took advantage of their talents without fair compensation.
The discussion was ignited by Sarz during his recent Afropolitan podcast appearance, where he recounted being shortchanged by big-name acts early in his career.
“So many top artists exploited me—they’d record hits with me but refuse to pay. One major star still owes me for a track after I delivered two bangers. That’s when I drew the line—no pay, no production,” he revealed.
I didn’t realize how many Nigerian producers get exploited like this. Even Sarz. No infrastructure means you get finessed for years before you have leverage. This story is wild. pic.twitter.com/2wEOisPvkf

Ozedikus weighed in on X after watching Sarz’s viral clip, sharing his own ordeal with an unnamed artist who allegedly ghosted him after recording dozens of tracks.
“Produced 30 songs in two months—zero payment, zero credit. I begged just for an IG tag ‘for exposure’ and still got ignored. Insane,” he tweeted.
DJ Kaywise then recounted his bitter experience with rapper Eldee The Don, who allegedly dangled a record deal in 2012 before backing out after receiving extensive mixtape work.
“Eldee promised me a label deal after I mixed 1,000+ tapes for him and his artists. Turned out to be empty words—my first harsh lesson. That’s why I stayed independent, and it’s the best decision ever,” he posted.
Despite the allegations, Eldee The Don has not publicly responded to DJ Kaywise’s claims.
