Nollywood star Idia Aisien opened up about her emotional struggles in past relationships during a heartfelt conversation with media maven Toke Makinwa, revealing how financial support led to betrayal.
In the candid interview, Idia shared how she generously funded men she dated, hoping for mutual growth, only to discover they exploited her kindness. She explained their pleas about failing businesses convinced her to invest, believing it would strengthen their future together.
One shocking betrayal involved a partner using her funds to whisk another woman abroad on a luxury trip, leaving Idia devastated.
She recounted: “I supported them, thinking it was an investment in our shared future. They’d claim financial hardship, and as someone dating with marriage in mind, I helped. Later, I learned one used the money to fly his side chick business class to Dubai.”
Toke challenged this approach, asserting single women shouldn’t financially rescue boyfriends: “No ring? Not your circus. His financial peaks or valleys are his motherf#cking problem—not yours.”
When Idia questioned how to handle a struggling partner when financially capable, Toke emphasized emotional support over monetary: “Motivate him, cheer him on—but keep your wallet closed. My money stays with family who’ll genuinely pray for my success.”
Idia tearfully recalled another incident: “After transferring funds for his ‘business,’ his phone conveniently died. My brother exposed him vacationing with another woman. His excuse? ‘Friends forced me.’ Meanwhile, he’d blown our future on someone else’s getaway.”
