Nigerian rapper Ice Prince has opened up about the lack of respect he faces in the music scene.

He expressed frustration over younger artists disregarding his contributions, despite his influence on the industry.

The candid discussion took place on the Tea With Tay podcast, where Ice Prince didn’t hold back.

During the chat with host Taymesan, he dropped several revelations—one being his claim as the first African act to grace the BET Awards stage and accept a trophy.

“I was the pioneer—the first African artist to step onto that BET stage and win. No false modesty here,”
he stated. “And unlike most, I exited my label clean—no messy breakup.”

Taymesan probed further, questioning whether other Chocolate City artists, like Brymo and M.I, had contentious departures.

“Let’s just say drama followed everyone else. Some stories just never surfaced.”

When Brymo’s infamous clash with Chocolate City came up, Ice Prince responded:

“Despite everything I’ve given to this industry—to Nigeria, to Africa—disrespect still finds me. But music? It’s not about the crowns or the hype. Titles like ‘legend’ or ‘OG’ mean nothing to me. The craft is deeper than plaques and praise.”
