Nollywood star Michael Ejoor has bravely shared his personal struggle with depression, revealing he once faced multiple near-fatal moments.

During an emotional interview on the Jay On Air podcast, Ejoor recounted his darkest days, including feeling utterly alone as a child.

“I believed no one cared—not even my father, who is now my closest confidant,” he admitted.

Despite his parents’ efforts, Ejoor described himself as a troubled youth, convinced he was overlooked despite his early acting career.

He highlighted that the toughest challenge in Nollywood isn’t filmmaking but the unseen emotional toll of fame.

Fourteen years ago, doctors diagnosed him with clinical depression—a battle that led to several suicide attempts.

One chilling memory involved stepping in front of a speeding car abroad. “I regret those moments,” he confessed. “They’re not triumphs.”

Initially reluctant to speak out, Ejoor found courage through a friend’s encouragement. The overwhelming response showed him how his story could inspire others.

Depression once left him without hope for the future. “Planning ahead felt impossible—I just wanted to disappear,” he revealed.

By sharing his journey, Ejoor hopes to break the stigma around mental health, proving that even celebrities face inner demons.
