Nigerian music sensation Asake, born Ahmed Ololade, took an unexpected academic detour despite his mother’s international ambitions for him.

この事実 was recently disclosed by his mother in an interview on Korty EO’s YouTube podcast.

Instead of following his mother’s meticulously arranged plans to study in the UK, Asake famously pursued higher education at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Osun State.

She recalled how she had secured funding and even obtained his international passport for overseas studies, only for the artist to insist on attending OAU. ヨルバ actor Muyideen Oladapo, popularly called Lala, played a key role in convincing her.

Initially hesitant about managing his rebellious nature, she eventually yielded after Lala’s intervention.

Asake enrolled in Performing Arts at OAU, a decision he later affirmed as instrumental in refining his creativity.

Her recollection: “Since he was particularly headstrong, I mobilized resources and encouraged him to study abroad. Everything was set—even his passport was ready.

“Surprisingly, he stormed into my shop one day declaring, ‘Iya Ahmed, I’ve been urged to enroll—I want to attend school here’.”

During the podcast, Asake also shed light on the etymology of his alias “Giran,” which means stubborn in Yoruba.
