Nollywood star Daniel Etim-Effiong recently revealed the unexpected turn of events that led to his fairytale marriage with his wife, Toyosi—a story filled with fate, timing, and second chances.
In a candid chat with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the actor shared how a rejected proposal from his former lover redirected him to his happily ever after.
Etim-Effiong explained that despite being ready to settle down, his ex-girlfriend had different priorities—leading him back to Nigeria, where destiny had a surprise in store.
“I was done playing the field and wanted commitment,” he recalled. “But my girlfriend at the time wasn’t on the same page. She had dreams of grad school abroad and didn’t want to be tied down.”
Disheartened but determined, the actor returned to Nigeria for a project—and that’s when fate intervened. “Funny enough, Toyosi was the production manager. We’d spoken before, but meeting her in person changed everything.”
With refreshing honesty, he continued, “I didn’t waste time—I told her straight up, ‘I’m looking for a wife.’ And she just smiled and said, ‘Let’s do this.’ That was it.”
The couple tied the knot in a romantic ceremony in November 2017, just a year after their whirlwind reunion. Their love story blossomed further with the arrival of their daughter in January 2019.
