Frank Omorojie, a dedicated worker at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), has been celebrated for his honesty after finding and returning a misplaced purse loaded with cash and essential travel papers in the Terminal 2 departure lounge.
Reports confirm that Omorojie spotted the unattended bag near the Rwanda Air check-in counter on Wednesday.
The purse contained dual passports (Nigerian and British), a credit card, and a substantial sum of $1,700 in cash.
Eyewitnesses revealed that instead of keeping the valuables, Omorojie immediately handed them over to Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel, triggering an urgent search for the rightful owner.
Following standard airport procedures, the lost items were logged and transferred to Customer Service, where staff swiftly initiated announcements to locate the owner.
The relieved owner—a Nigerian traveler en route to Kigali—was soon reunited with her belongings after fearing they were gone for good.
Airport authorities praised the incident as a shining example of ethical conduct, emphasizing how such actions strengthen public confidence in airport operations.
When questioned about his decision, Omorojie humbly credited his personal principles: “I simply followed my conscience.”
His colleagues and airport management have since honored his behavior, recognizing it as a benchmark for professionalism and moral responsibility in public service roles.
