In a historic moment before dawn on Saturday, Nigerian chef extraordinaire Hilda Baci shattered expectations by securing the Guinness World Record for crafting the largest pot of jollof rice ever made.
The culinary spectacle unfolded at Lagos’ prestigious Eko Hotels and Suites on Victoria Island.
The ambitious project originally aimed for 250 sacks of rice but was scaled back to 200 to stay within the 20,000kg capacity of the weighing apparatus.
A dedicated team of ten assistants clad in vibrant red worked nonstop alongside Baci, maneuvering massive wooden spoons to stir the gargantuan feast while live entertainment energized the crowd.
Dubbed the ‘Gino World Jollof Festival,’ the event drew A-list attendees including Ogun State’s First Lady Bamidele Abiodun, Nollywood icon Funke Akindele, reality star Bambam, media personality Tomike Adeoye, influencer Enioluwa Adeoluwa, viral sensation Peller, and Afrobeats artist Spyro.
During her speech, Funke Akindele praised Baci’s tenacity, inspiring women worldwide to chase extraordinary goals.
“True beauty shines when paired with relentless ambition and remarkable achievements,” she declared, met with thunderous applause.
The Federal Government had previously endorsed Baci’s groundbreaking endeavor, with Information Minister Mohammed Idris hailing it as proof of Nigeria’s world-class talent.
Overcome with emotion, Baci momentarily paused her celebration after reading heartfelt messages of support flooding social media, tears streaming down her face.
