Nollywood icon Fathia Balogun has shared heartbreaking news about the passing of her mother, shortly after celebrating her 55th birthday festivities.
Taking to social media, the renowned actress revealed that her mother passed away on the night before her grand birthday celebration on Sunday. Heartbreakingly, the news was withheld from her until after the event concluded.
Fathia expressed her grief while appealing to supporters for prayers during this difficult time, describing her late mother as her greatest confidant and spiritual anchor.
Her emotional post read: “My dearest friends, I marked my 55th birthday on February 5th but hosted my celebration yesterday. Little did I know that my precious mother had transitioned the evening before my party, and this painful truth was kept from me.
“I’m still processing this immense loss—she was my biggest supporter, prayer partner, closest friend, and the heartbeat of our family. While I find comfort in Allah’s (SWT) wisdom, the Williams family requests privacy during this period.
“Your heartfelt prayers for me and my siblings would be deeply appreciated. Funeral arrangements will be shared in due course. Thank you for your understanding.”
The celebratory event, held in Lagos, saw attendance from numerous entertainment industry heavyweights including Funke Akindele, Fuji star Pasuma, filmmaker Kazim Adeoti, actress Wumi Toriola, and Lagos transport leader MC Oluomo.
Amidst the glittering celebration, the actress remained unaware of the profound personal loss that had occurred just hours earlier.
