Stephen Nana, popularly known as Stevenator, has opened up about his decision to step down as Asake’s manager after a successful two-year partnership.

Stevenator, who managed the Afrobeats sensation from 2022 to 2024, revealed that the singer’s rapid rise to fame made it difficult for him to balance work and family life.

In a candid interview circulating online, he expressed gratitude to Olamide, the YBNL boss, for entrusting him with Asake’s career despite his lack of prior management experience.

He shared: “Olamide reached out to me one day, saying he had an artist he wanted me to handle. It was my first time diving into artist management—I had zero experience. Our friendship spans over two decades, so I trusted his judgment.

“I had never met Asake before, nor heard his music. The learning curve was steep because his success skyrocketed almost instantly. There was no room for trial and error—everything moved at lightning speed.

“The biggest challenge was my family. I have two young sons, and the demands of the job kept me away from them for months. Being a hands-on dad is important to me, but the constant travel made it impossible.

“At one point, my youngest son didn’t even recognize me when I visited. That was the wake-up call. Asake’s career had grown beyond what I could manage while maintaining a healthy family life. So, I made the tough choice to step back. Now, I’m fully present for my wife and kids—and I wouldn’t trade that for anything.”
