Jules Kounde, a teammate of Ousmane Dembele for France, has voiced his backing for Barcelona’s rising star Lamine Yamal, predicting he could secure the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
Kounde emphasized that Yamal, who stands as a rival to Dembele for the prestigious award, is fully deserving of the honor.
Both players are part of the 30-name shortlist for this year’s Ballon d’Or.
“Is Lamine Yamal a Ballon d’Or contender? You’re putting me in a tough spot, but I believe he has earned it,” Kounde remarked (via Le10Sport).
“We share a strong bond. He’s selfless, always prioritizing the team’s success. I completely relate to his mindset.”
Yamal, 18, netted 18 goals for Barcelona last season in LaLiga and showcased exceptional performances in the UEFA Champions League.
The Spanish sensation was elevated to Barcelona’s senior squad by former head coach Xavi Hernandez.
