Oxlade

Nigerian Afrobeats star Oxlade, born Ikuforiji Olaitan, has openly dismissed rumors about substance use, affirming his commitment to a clean lifestyle.

During a revealing conversation with gospel artist Tim Godfrey, Oxlade credited his upbringing and faith for steering him away from harmful habits.

The chart-topping musician behind hits like ‘Ku Lo Sa’ highlighted his deep-rooted connection to Christianity and music, tracing it back to his childhood in the church choir.

Oxlade shared how his early exposure to gospel music molded his artistry, stating that his family’s musical legacy played a pivotal role in his journey.

“I’ve never smoked or experimented with drugs. My entire life revolved around the church—leading choirs from childhood to adulthood.

“Music runs in my blood. My grandmother was a devoted deaconess with an incredible voice, while my grandfather mastered multiple instruments.

“My mother’s passion for singing and dancing, along with pastors in my family, shaped me. Gospel music remains my strongest inspiration—it’s pure and powerful,” he revealed.

Reflecting on his success, Oxlade added, “No matter how people see me, I know divine favor is at work. Touring 40 cities with a debut album isn’t luck—it’s grace. If God is guiding my path, I have no reason to fear.”
