Grace Charis Bassey Effah, the Nigerian star formerly known as Belinda Effah, isn’t here for the outdated narratives. Instead of succumbing to societal pressures, she’s proudly rewriting her own story.
After relocating and earning U.S. citizenship in 2025 through her service in the Navy, Effah is now confronting critics who insist marriage defines a woman’s worth.
In a fiery Facebook response, she challenged the notion that single women “expire,” pointing out the hypocrisy in such backward thinking.
“Someone actually told me I should ‘get married before I expire,'” she wrote on Saturday. “Let’s dissect this nonsense:
1. Is it YOUR expiration date?
2. Married people divorce—do their lives suddenly have no value?
3. You don’t get to dictate my happiness or timeline.
Stop masking your insecurities as concern. If marriage is your joy, great—but stop policing mine.”
