Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has officially named renowned Nollywood star Mercy Johnson as his Special Adviser on Public Engagement and Advocacy.
The announcement was made in a formal statement issued by Umar Musa Ikhilor, Secretary to the Edo State Government, on Thursday.
The statement highlighted: “Mercy Johnson-Okojie is a multifaceted Nigerian icon—acclaimed actress, film producer, businesswoman, and humanitarian. With a prolific career exceeding 200 movies, she stands among Nollywood’s most decorated talents, earning accolades from the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) and other esteemed institutions.
“Her influence extends beyond cinema through the Mercy Johnson Okojie Foundation, where she drives impactful initiatives in women’s empowerment, child welfare, educational aid, and healthcare access. A vocal advocate for social change, she bridges entertainment with civic responsibility.”
As Special Adviser, Johnson-Okojie will utilize her extensive media presence and advocacy experience to enhance public participation in government initiatives.
“This strategic appointment reflects Governor Okpebholo’s dedication to collaborating with influential figures to foster unity and development across Edo State,” the statement concluded.
