Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has raised concerns about shifting international interest in Nigerian artists, urging established acts to refocus their attention on performing within Nigeria.
During a recent interview on The Uncut Podcast, the award-winning musician shared his observations about evolving global reception.
Davido highlighted growing audience fatigue toward Nigerian performers in Western markets as he analyzed the current state of international music demand.
Pointing to reduced enthusiasm abroad compared to previous years, he predicted that top-tier artists would need to shift their focus back to domestic stages in the near future.
“Within the next decade, I expect our leading artists to return home. There’s already a sense of overexposure in America and the UK – audiences there have ‘seen it all’,” the musician explained.
The hitmaker contrasted today’s concert landscape with recent history, noting fewer artists now command the ability to independently fill major overseas venues.
“Where twenty Nigerian acts could sell out London shows three years ago, today maybe five can achieve this – and we all know who they are. The shift is undeniable,” Davido remarked.
